Cans for the Community presents a check for 00 to Sharon Spratt, fourth from right, CEO of Cottonwood Inc. Cans for the Community raises money by recycling cans and donating the proceeds to nonprofit organizations in the community.

Golf Course Superintendents Association of America employees celebrated their United Way of Douglas County campaign with an ice cream social and dessert competition on Aug. 26.
