The Douglas County Commission approved an agreement with N.R. Hamm Quarry Inc. for operation of a sanitary landfill at a Jefferson County quarry site north and west of Lawrence. However, the agreement had to be approved by the Lawrence City Commission before it could take effect. Swift approval was expected.
