Area fishing report
CLINTON (Updated 5-19) – Water 67 degrees. Channel catfish good in creeks and river above lake after heavy rains using nightcrawlers. In main lake, shad guts productive. Crappie good on minnows and jigs. Some being caught near bank and some at 5-6 feet. Notes: A 10-inch minimum length limit and 20 daily creel limit on crappie, and an 18-inch minimum length limit on wiper went into effect Jan. 1. About 500 crappie were tagged April 11. Fish feeder activated April 26.
PERRY (updated 5-19) – Water 69 degrees. Channel catfish fair to good. Fish will be running to dirty water to feed. Use shad sides off windy banks as fish moving in shallow. Sauger fair on rocky points on west side towards dam on crankbaits and twisters. Spawn is over. White bass fair on rocky points with twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. White crappie fair to good on tube jigs or minnows at 1-3 feet from the bank. Note: Crappie daily creel limit of 20 in effect.
DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 5-19) – Largemouth bass fair using plastic lizards and worms. Channel catfish fair using nightcrawlers and stinkbait. Crappie good using jigs or minnows from shore. Bluegill fair on nightcrawler pieces at about 18 inches above bobber.
LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 5-19) – Water 68 degrees, clear to six feet. Channel catfish good using nightcrawlers, livers and stinkbait. Bluegill fair on worms under bobber along weedbeds. Crappie fair on jig and minnows off piers and rock banks. Largemouth bass good using plastic lizards, worms and spinnerbaits.
LONE STAR LAKE (updated 5-19) – Channel catfish fair using nightcrawlers or minnows. Largemouth bass good using plastic lizards, worms, tube jigs and spinnerbaits. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber along weedbeds. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around shoreline.
