Another warm, sunny day expected

Put down the convertible top, pull out the shades and lather on the sunscreen — bright skies and warm temperatures in the 80s are expected for today.

“We’re going to see a Friday full of sunshine,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist. “It’s another warm day.”

At 7:30 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 59, with an 83 percent humidity.

“It looks to be a nice day today. And later on it looks even better,” he said. Today’s high will hit 86 by this afternoon, with only a cloud or two drifting through, he said.

“If you’re heading out to the Royals game, it looks to be fantastic,” Reith said. Temperatures will begin falling off overnight to a low of 60 by early Saturday morning, with northeast winds 3 to 8 mph.

Saturday’s high will climb to a high of 87 by Saturday afternoon. Reith said there are some possibilities for isolated thunderstorms in the area on Saturday afternoon.

And he said there’s a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Sunday’s morning low will be 62, with Sunday’s high climbing to 80 degrees.
