Art a la Carte
Eccentric artist Karl Ramberg has fused his loves of art and music for a solo exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center. The show features musical compositions written by assigning tones to letters and forming words that become musical phrases, as well as drawings and CDs that contain the fruits of improv sessions in Ramberg’s music and drawing studios. “Keeping Score” opens with a reception and live music at 7:30 tonight.
A new opportunity for art enthusiasts to buy art directly from artists begins Saturday. The Lawrence ArtMarket runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Visitor Center. Local and out-of-town artists and artisans will sell wares in a variety of media tomorrow and the third Saturday of every month through September.
And at noon on Saturday, a zany cavalcade of art on wheels will roll through downtown during the 10th annual Art Tougeau Parade. A pre-parade party with live music by The Coyote Project and the Jolly Ranchers is from 6 to 9 tonight. The parade gets under way at noon tomorrow.
