Netter Third: Alexis Czapinski of Lawrence’s Falbo Knows Tennis Academy placed third overall at the girls U-10 Missouri Valley Grand Prix event in Kansas City. The Academy’s Matt Hansen reached the round of 16 in the USTA National Mutterspa Invitational in Las Vegas.

Stagg Titlist: Bud Stagg shot a one-over-par 73 and won Saturday’s Jayhawk Club Golf Tournament by two strokes over Tom Dennis. Chad Roesler was third with a 77. In net scoring, Frank Lewis was low with a 67, followed by Todd Chapple 71 and Steve Crawford 73.

Broz-Platz LAGA Champs: Jon Broz and Stewart Platz combined for a score of 60 and won the Lawrence Amateur Golf Assn. Spring Kickoff Scramble Saturday at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Frank DeHart and Bill Smith won the first flight. The third flight winners were Mike Medlen and Russ Blaylock.

KU Golf Camps: Kansas University men’s golf coach Ross Randall will conduct a camp for boys ages 10-18 June 12-16 and June 19-22. KU women’s coach Erin O’Neil’s camp for girls ages 10-18 will be June 26-29. Randall and O’Neil also will team for a parent-child camp Aug. 5-7. Gymnast Shines: Scott Bregman of Lawrence Gymnastics Academy advanced to the semifinals as a Level 10 Junior Elite in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics championships May 5-8 in Houston. Bregman, a Michigan University signee, was 11th in floor exercise and 20th in the vault.
