Housing plan for elderly gets recommendation
A project to build new affordable apartments for the elderly was the big winner among ideas considered for funding by the city’s Housing Trust Fund board.
The board recommended that a project by the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority to build nine new units at its Peterson Acres facility be awarded $200,000 in funding. The recommendation now will go to the City Commission for final approval.
City commissioners are expected to consider the recommendations on May 31.
