Area fishing report

CLINTON (Updated 5-4) — Water 57 degrees. Largemouth bass fair with most being caught by crappie anglers using minnows or jigs. White bass fair using jigs in the upper end of lake. Crappie fair. Warming weather has improved crappie fishing. Some being caught at 5-6 feet below the surface over brush using minnows and jigs. Notes: A 10-inch minimum length limit and 20 daily creel limit on crappie, and an 18-inch minimum length limit on wiper went into effect Jan. 1. About 500 crappie were tagged April 11. Fish feeder activated April 26.

PERRY (updated 5-13) — Water 68 degrees. Channel catfish fair to good. Fish will be running to dirty water to feed. Use shad sides off windy banks. Sauger fair on rocky points on west side towards dam on crankbaits and twisters. Spawn is over. White bass fair on rocky points with twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. Spawn is over. White crappie fair to good on tube jigs or minnows at 1-3 feet from the bank. Spawn will be over soon. Note: Crappie daily creel limit of 20 now in effect.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 5-4) — Water 59 degrees. Crappie fair using jigs and small spinners from piers and shoreline. Bluegill fair on nightcrawler pieces about 18 inches below bobber.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 5-4) — Channel catfish fair using shad sides or nightcrawlers. Bluegill fair on worms under bobber along weedbeds. Crappie fair using jigs and minnows off piers and shoreline. Wiper fair trolling crankbaits. Walleye fair trolling crankbaits. Largemouth bass fair using plastic worms, jig and pig. Note: Aeration system was turned on April 19. Fish feeders activated April 26.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 5-4) — Largemouth bass fair using plastic worms and crankbaits. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber along weedbeds. Crappie fair using jigs or minnows around shoreline and in deeper water.
