Rockhurst linebacker commits

Kansas University’s football squad received its third pledge for the 2006 season Wednesday night when Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst junior Sal Capra gave the KU coaching staff his non-binding oral commitment, according to rivals.com.

Capra, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker, took unofficial visits to Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado and Colorado State, but took KU’s early offer after being recruited by Mangino and assistant Dave Doeren.

“KU got a steal in this one,” Rockhurst coach Tony Severino told rivals. “He’s one of those guys that runs downhill. I call him one of those ‘thud hitters.’ When he hits you, you hear a thud.”

Capra joins Xavier Rambo and Anthony Webb, both of Dallas, on KU’s early commitment list. They can’t sign their letters of intent until February.
