Douglas County under tornado watch until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Douglas, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties until 7 p.m.

The watch was issued because conditions are favorable for a tornado, but no funnel clouds have been spotted at this time.

6News meteorologist Matt Sayers says that there are storms 30 miles to the north of Lawrence which have produced “decent-sized hail, but the storms are not severe.”

“Rain in Lawrence will be fairly isolated until this evening,” Sayers says, “but we’re keeping an eye on the situation.”
