Cloudy morning will to lead to warm, muggy day

Overnight thunderstorms to the south collapsed to create a new cold front, thickening clouds over Lawrence this morning.

“Temperatures will be well above average,” says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “We will see some sunshine today.”

Today’s high is expected to reach 87, with winds out of the south of 10-20 mph. There is an isolated chance of thunderstorms today, but Lawrence will probably not see rain until Thursday.

At 8:30 a.m. the temperature was 73 degrees and muggy, with a humidity of 81%.

The area will “stay clear overnight, basically,” said Schack. The overnight low will drop to 68. Thursday’s high is expected to be in the low 80s, and Friday’s high may be in the upper 60s. Thunderstorms are possible over the last two days of the week.
