Children’s choir to have auditions

The Lawrence Children’s Choir is having auditions May 16-17 at Southwest Junior High School for the LCC Tour Choir.

Singers in grades 4-8 this year may schedule an audition time by calling the choir office at 331-4662.

Living wills program scheduled at library

“Living Wills: What You Need to Know,” a panel discussion on various aspects of end-of-life care and treatment, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the held at Lawrence Public Library auditorium.

The scheduled speakers are:

  • Molly Wood, lawyer with Stevens & Brand, will speak on the legal aspects of living wills and the documents required.
  • Mark Hummel, EMT, will talk about how first responders handle the issue when they are called to an emergency.
  • Teresa Sikes and Dorothy Kurtz, nurses in the palliative care unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, will address the issue from a hospital care perspective.
  • Noreen Lozano, Douglas County Hospice, and Angela Lowe, Lawrence Memorial Hospital chaplain, will talk about how the issue can affect the family.

If you wish to fill out living wills forms at the session, please bring the names, addresses, and phone numbers of those with whom you have discussed the matter, and who are willing to be named on the forms as required.

This program is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the Coalition to Honor End-of-life Choices, the local chapter of the national Life Project.
