Drug panel today at KU

Former Kansas University football All-American and NFL standout John Hadl will join noted baseball writer and Boston Red Sox advisor Bill James in a panel discussion on the use of drugs in pro sports.

The discussion is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at the Dole Institute of Politics.

Also scheduled to appear is Bill Althaus, who has covered the Royals and Chiefs for more than two decades as a sports writer for the Independence (Mo.) Examiner.

“Unfortunately, doping scandals seem to be popping up in almost any imaginable sport, from cycling to track to football,” said Jonathan Earle, associate director of the Dole Institute. “This panel should be a great way to air out these issues in our community, one of the most sophisticated sports towns in the nation.”

The Dole Institute is next to the Lied Center on KU’s West Campus.
