No marriage right

To the editor:

In response to Roger Stahlecker, I believe you are just a little confused. So let me see if I can clear up a few issues for you. It is not I who am stating that gay marriage is a civil rights issue. That is the tactic the proponents are trying to use. You made reference to a quote that comes from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution, and you conveniently left out part of the quote. So here it is in full: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

It means our Creator, NOT man, gave this right to us. In no way has anyone’s life, liberty or pursuit of happiness been taken from them. Some just do not seem to understand that marriage is not a right. Many wants in this world come with criteria that first have to be met. Like it or not!
