— Junior Ryan Kimm's walk-off home run in the eighth inning lifted Baker University to a 2-1 victory over Missouri Valley on Tuesday in the nightcap of a doubleheader.

In the opener, Missouri Valley junior Jeff St. Pierre slammed a two-run homer in the second inning, and the Vikings held on for a 3-1 victory.

Kimm, who had struck out in two previous plate appearances, led off the inning by slamming the first pitch over the right-field fence.

"I knew I hit it well," he said. "After the strikeouts, I was just looking to make contact. I got it up, and the wind helped it out. It felt great. I've never hit a walk-off anything."

Reliever Randy Sutcliffe got the win while allowing only two baserunners in three innings.

The Wildcats (13-20, 3-7 Heart of America Athletic Conference) will play host to William Jewell College for a doubleheader at 5 p.m. Friday.
