In the halls

Do you think teenagers need to have cell phones?

Paige Hanson, sixth-grader, Langston Hughes School

“Yes. So they can talk to their friends, and their parents can call them to find out what they are doing.”

Adam Phillips, junior, LHS

“Not exactly necessary, but with the traffic in this town, if you have an accident you can call your parents. If there is an emergency, it’s a good idea, but not just to talk on.”

Alex Greer, junior, Lawrence High School

“Yeah, I think they are pretty much necessary in the modern world if you need to call the police in an emergency situation.”

Miriam Torkzadeh, sophomore, FSHS

“Yes, definitely. Just because it’s a lot easier to get a hold of people in case of an emergency. I don’t have one, but I wish I did.”

Beau Stauffer, senior, Free State High School

“Yes. That way, if you have some place to go and have to get a hold of your parents or someone else, you can.”

Whitney Wiebe, sophomore, FSHS

“In some situations, yes. If Gilligan would have had a cell phone he could have gotten off of the island.”

Lexie Roush, sixth grade, Schwegler School

“Yes. I do, and they should. Mainly for emergencies.”

Eric Killen, ninth-grader, Southwest Junior High School

“No, because if they don’t have one, one of their friends probably will.”
