Harold W. ‘Pat’ Sweeney

Memorial services for Harold W. “Pat” Sweeney, 92, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Sweeney died Friday, March 25, 2005, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

He was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Lewis, the son of Michael and Lillian Carroll Sweeney. He moved to Lawrence in 1967 from WaKeeney.

Mr. Sweeney was the manager of a bank in Fellsburg. He later farmed in Lewis, Eads, Colo., and Oakley before returning to banking at University State Bank in Lawrence in 1962. He retired from the bank in 1982.

He married Florence E. Smith on Jan. 20, 1937, in Kinsley. She died Oct. 9, 2004.

Survivors include three sons, B. Jay, Russell, Joe Kirk, Nashville, Tenn., and Gregory, Overland Park; a sister, Dolores Chap, Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund or to the Heartland of America Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.
