Chester Laverne Baker, Lawrence
Funeral services for Chester Laverne Baker, 78, Baldwin, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be in Minneapolis, Kan.
Mr. Baker died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1926, in Minneapolis, the son of Laverne and Ada Baker.
He served in the Air Force during World War II. He later worked for Southwestern Bell and retired in 1984.
Mr. Baker married Ada Crabtree in 1970. She died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Simpson, Lawrence; two sons, Al, Ulysses, and David, Rifle, Colo.; three stepchildren; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends after the service at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the United Health Way Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.
