Cloudy and cool start to weekend

If you’re heading out to Good Friday services today, prepare for some bleak weather.

“The clouds will be thick. It is going to be a damp and dreary way to end the week,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist. “We are not expecting to see any sunshine today.”

At 2:30 p.m., the temperature was 39, with north 6-15-mph winds making the wind chill 32 degrees.

“It does feel rather chilly today, so make sure you bundle up,” Reith said.

Today’s high will climb to to only 44, with mostly cloudy skies. No precipitation is expected later today for the Lawrence area, Reith said.

Clouds will continue to be thick overnight. Saturday morning’s low will be 35, with the high climbing to 47 by Saturday afternoon with mostly cloudy skies. .

“Sunday, we finally start to break out of the clouds,” Reith said.

Sunday’s morning low will be 32. The high will climb to 54 by Sunday afternoon when the clouds finally start to part, he said.
