Rosa Violet Maddan, Ottawa

? Services for Rosa Violet Maddan, 103, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.

Mrs. Maddan died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Village West in Ottawa.

She was born Nov. 8, 1901, in Brownington, Mo., the daughter of Charles Isaac and Jemima Eunice Bradley Scrogham. She graduated from Foster High School in Missouri in 1920. She moved to Amoret, Mo., in 1910, Foster, Mo., in 1912, Hutchinson in 1930 and returned to Foster before moving to a farm northwest of Pleasanton. She later moved to Ottawa in 1956.

Mrs. Maddan was a homemaker and worked as a sales clerk in a grocery and dry goods store in Foster until 1930. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Hutchinson for a short time. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.

She married Ellis John Maddan on June 26, 1940, in Garnett. He died Jan. 22, 1966.

Survivors include two nephews and a great-niece.
