Drizzle, snow moving in

A storm system moving west from Missouri was bringing a mix of drizzle and snow this afternoon to the Lawrence area.

“We’re going to see rain changing over to snow, just a mix, until about 6 o’clock,” said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist. “You might see a little slushy accumulation on your car or in a grassy area. But roads are going to be fine.”

Earlier forecasts today anticipated that most of the wet weather would miss Lawrence, and pass on to the north. But the system moved in from parts of west-central Missouri and across to northeast Kansas, Sayers said.

“You might see a couple of sprinkles or snowflakes during the evening hours,” he said.

Overnight, the temperature.will drop to 31 by early Wednesday morning. Clouds will decrease Wednesday afternoon, as temperatures climb to a high of 49.

Thursday’s morning low will be 38, with the chance for some precipitation. Thursday’s afternoon high will climb to 60 under mostly cloudy skies.
