Maddening bags

To the editor:

My household recycles, and we really want to do the “right thing” for our environment. I suppose that has made me hesitant to complain about the new (and really awful) paper leaf bags. Thank you, Stephen Dill, for speaking up! I thought I was the only one who had to pull the stupid things over my head to open them, then chase them around the yard, because they won’t stand up or stay put, then tape them because they tear. I hope the new bags make life easier for someone.

Attempting to dump something … say grass clippings … into the bags (with a toooooo small opening) inspires profanity from me! Give us shorter bags with a wider opening, and we’ll make it work.

Joy Patton,
