KU needed to win three of six singles matches to secure the victory. Skoda continued her four-match winning streak in Big 12 play with a 6-4, 6-2 victory, while freshman Stephanie Smith earned her second straight victory, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
With the match tied at 3-all, freshman Lauren Hommell earned a thrilling three-set win over Jessica Collins, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, to secure the victory.
"I thought we competed well today and I am very proud of our team," KU coach Amy Hall-Holt said. "After winning two in a row, our confidence is up a lot, and we know that we can compete against teams in the Big 12."
