These American Red Cross volunteer instructors donated their
teaching skills for a free adult CPR training session. The group
trained 40 area residents to kick off March as Red Cross Month.

Lawrence residents Bernie and Barbara Nordling, front row far
right, keep in touch with friends and family from the southwest
Kansas area by having a dinner in their home for Kansas University
students from Stevens and Morton counties. For many years the
Nordlings lived and worked in Hugoton. Those who attended the

Ed Carter reacts to winning scuba lessons from Scuba Shack and a
daylong pontoon rental from Clinton Marina during Health Care
Access Clinic's fourth annual fund-raiser. The benefit was Feb. 4
at Maceli's.
These Cub Scouts from Pack 3370, chartered to the Deerfield School
PTA, provided the color guard for the opening ceremonies of the
Kansas City Comets game Feb. 19 at Kemper Arena. The boys were
recognized and received special pins at the pack's Blue & Gold
banquet Feb. 28 at the Plymouth Congregational Church. They are,

Bennett, Alex Houston, Logan Cherland, Josh Kallenbach and Kenneth
Palmer.
These Girl Scouts from Troop 623 received the Silver Award. They
are, from left, Paula Kyriakos, Michelle Jones, Taylor Fulton,
Melanie Wiens-Kind and Kathleen Finnegan. The girls were recognized
Feb. 20 at the home of Margaret Townsend, troop leader. To earn the
Silver Award, the girls had to earn the Leadership pin, the Cadette
Challenge and the Dreams to Reality Patch.
