The Douglas County Family Community Education Council had an installation ceremony for its 2005 officers on March 1. The officers are Myrna Hartford, president; Margaret Fuston, vice president; Genny Hunsinger, secretary; Eda Thomason, treasurer; and Darlene Bright, public relations.

Myrna Hartford announced the Northeast area meeting will be April 7 in Manhattan.

Susan Krumm talked about “Walk Kansas,” which began March 12. “Walk Kansas” T-shirts are available for $5 each, she said.

The council voted to make this year’s state lesson “Color Me Healthy” the 2005 county project. Susan Krumm and FCE Council members will have a “Color Me Healthy” booth at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital health fair April 9.

President Myrna Hartford reminded members about these upcoming dates:

  • Spring achievement tea, 1:30 p.m., April 15, Building 21, Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.
  • FCE District Day, May 5, Building 21, fairgrounds.

The next Red Cross Blood Drive will be April 21 at First Christian Church. Kaw Valley and India FCE units will each furnish five dozen cookies.
