Paulette Louise Tall Chief, Shawnee
Lawton, Okla. ? Wake services for Paulette Louise Tall Chief, 57, Shawnee, Okla., will be at 7 p.m. today at Deyo Mission Church in Lawton. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee, Okla. Burial will be in Holdenville.
Mrs. Tall Chief died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Oklahoma City from cancer.
She was born Dec. 1, 1947, in Lawton, the daughter of Cheevers and Rosetta Coffey. She received a bachelor’s in management of human resources from Oklahoma State University and a master’s in management of human resources from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla.
Mrs. Tall Chief received the Indian Woman of the Year Award in 1993 and Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2004.
She married Bryan Morrow on April 24, 2004, in Albuquerque, N.M. He died May 8, 2004.
Survivors include her parents, Dewey; two daughters, Carrie Coffey, Lawrence, Kan., and Angela Goodfox, Shawnee, Okla.; a son, Marty Thurman, Shawnee, Okla.; two brothers, Jesse Coffey, Lawton, and James Coffey, Bartlesville; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Paulette Louise Tall Chief Memorial Fund, sent in care of Comanche Nation Funeral Home, 2701 S.W. J Ave., Lawton OK 73505.
