Mat Champions: Deidre Housworth, Shelby Bowman, Jessica Bowman and Hanna Geer of Prairie Fire Wrestling Club earned individual titles in the USA Kansas Girls championships Sunday in Ellsworth. Reserve championships went to Kelsey Willits, Amanda Morris and Desiree Housworth. Third-place finishers were Brittany Brown, Dottie Housworth and Natalie Ellison.

Boys Basketball Champs: Sport 2 Sport seventh-grade boys won their division of the MAYB Cowtown Showdown basketball tournament in Kansas City, Kan. Team members are Scott Brenn, Drake DeBiasse, Nick Hassig, Mark Laskowski, Michael McCabe, Chase McElhaney, Ryan Scott and Coulter Vestal.

Seniors Golf: An organizational meeting for the Orchards Senior Summer Golf League for ages 60 and over will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Drury Place. League play will begin April 5. For information call Ed White at 843-7456.

Houk League: Early registration deadline is Sunday for Houk League baseball for youths ages 13-14. Forms are available at the Holcom Rec Center or online at www.lprd.org. Tryouts will be April 2-3. For information, call Mike Mattan at 760-0194.

DCABA Deadline: Player registrations for the Douglas County Amateur Baseball Assn. must be postmarked by Monday. Forms can be downloaded at www.dcaba.com. For information, call 841-0385. On Saturday, DCABA coaches and parents will gather at 8 a.m. at the 4-H Fairgrounds to prepare the fields for the season.

State Mat Qualifiers: Trey Jimboy of Prairie Fire Wrestling Club earned a second place in the north sub-district tournament Saturday in Holton. Devon Rosebaugh earned a third place and Dylan Housworth a fourth. All three qualified for the state championships.

State Gymnastics Meet: Lawrence Gymnastics Academy will play host to the Kansas Men’s Championships on Saturday. Lower-level competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the higher levels at 1:30 p.m. LGA’s Scott Bregman is a state contender at Level 10.

KVSA Deadline: Registrations are due now for the Kaw Valley Soccer Assn. high school league. For information, call Mauro Nobre at 842-8944.

Aquahawks: Anthony Portela, Jill Courtney, Ashley Robinson and Caitlin Gallagher of the Lawrence Aquahawks will attend The National Club Swimming Assn. Junior National Championships on March 22-28 in Orlando, Fla.
