Ruth Keys Clark, Winchester

Services for Ruth Keys Clark, 84, Winchester, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Reformed Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Burial will be in Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery.

Mrs. Clark died Monday, March 7, 2005, at her home.

She was born Dec. 20, 1920, near Boyle, the daughter of Ross B. and Lola Sloop Keys. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University and her Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois. She did additional graduate work at Kansas University for counselor certification and at KSU for certification in gifted education. She lived in Winchester for the past 44 years.

Mrs. Clark worked as a chemist for four years and spent 26 years teaching in public schools. She retired as a school counselor.

She was a past president of Jefferson County Genealogical Society and the Kansas Council of Genealogical Societies. She also was a tour director for KCGS.

She was a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and of the National Genealogical Society. She was a member and served various leadership positions in thirteen lineage societies. She also was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Clark, Winchester; a son, Harry Mead Clark, Topeka; two sisters, Rose O’Neill and Edith Duguid, both of Winchester; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
