Richard E. Yates, Wichita

— Services for Richard E. Yates, 73, Wichita, will be at 2 p.m. March 25, at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East in Wichita.

Mr. Yates died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Wichita.

He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Horton, the son of Edward and Winifred Ratts Yates. He lived in Lawrence for more than 30 years.

Mr. Yates served in the U.S. Army Airborne as a special forces pathfinder during the Korean War.

He was a retired construction worker and crop duster.

He married Loretta Volz. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Wolf, Provo, Utah, Barbara Wolf, Phoenix, and Esther Headley, Wichita; a stepson, Dean Headley, Wichita; a sister, Dorothy Banner, Tulsa, Okla.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
