Von Achen services
Eudora ? Services for Kenneth O. von Achen, 88, Eudora, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel. Inurnment will take place later.
Mr. von Achen died Monday, March 7, 2005, at his home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of John and Suda Proctor von Achen. He attended Kansas University. He moved from Kansas City, Mo., to Eudora in 1962.
Mr. von Achen became a registered architect in 1943 and established his own practice in Kansas City, Mo., in 1945. He moved his practice to Eudora, where he retired in 1995. He was a board member of the Builders Association of Kansas City, Mo., and Johnson County Parks and Recreation, and he was treasurer of the International Brangus Breeders Assn. He also was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence.
He married Dorothy Elizabeth Paffen on Jan. 7, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo. She died Jan. 5, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzy Miller, Wichita, and Vestana Ahlen, Eudora; a son, J. Kurt, Eudora; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
