? Glendon Rusch gave up three hits in three scoreless innings against his former team, and a Chicago Cubs split squad beat the Kansas City Royals, 4-0, Tuesday.

Kansas City's Runelvys Hernandez delivers during a spring-training game against the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs won, 4-0, Tuesday in Surprise, Ariz.

“He pitched really good,” Kansas City manager Tony Pena said. “We saw some quality pitches. He made a couple of mistakes when he didn’t throw the ball where he wanted.”

The Royals are optimistic Hernandez will be healthy enough to begin the season in the rotation.

Todd Hollandsworth tripled in the second inning and scored on Angel Echevarria’s one-out double for the only run off Hernandez.

The Royals, who had the worst record (58-104) in the AL last year, have lost five straight games after winning their spring-training opener.
