Docking, KU in hunt

? Sophomore Tyler Docking is tied for second after he fired a 3-under 69, helping Kansas University’s men’s golf team earn a share of fourth place Monday after the first round of the Louisiana Classics Invitational.

“Tyler is playing great golf right now,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “He is playing smart and steady, and it’s really fun to watch.”

The Jayhawks shot an opening-round 292 at Oakbourne Country Club (par-72, 7,002 yards) before thunderstorms caused the second round of the 15-team event to be canceled.

“We are disappointed that we aren’t going to get to play all three rounds,” Randall said. “I think that if we play well (today), we can catch the teams in front of us.”

Tulsa leads with a 284, while SMU is second place at 287.

KU will play 18 holes in the final round beginning at 7:30 this morning.
