Stephen C. ‘Steve’ Parsons, Zeandale
Zeandale ? Private family inurnment services for Stephen C. “Steve” Parsons, 73, Lawrence, will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Zeandale.
Mr. Parsons died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Winfield, the son of William Russell and Henrietta Goodrich Parsons. He received a Bachelor of Science in social science in 1953 and a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1957, both from Kansas State University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
Mr. Parsons served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Southwestern Bell as a marketing manager in St. Louis in 1992. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence, Lawrence Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award, and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the United Way Board.
He married Mary Jo Parsons on Feb. 6, 1954, in Manhattan.
A son, Stephen Douglas, died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Helen Parsons, Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Robert Christopher, Manhattan; and a grandson.
The family suggests memorials to the Kansas State University Foundation, 2323 Anderson Ave., Manhattan 66502, or they may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
