Chris and Meredith Beightel, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Lillian Claire Beightel, born Feb. 15, 2005, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She has a brother Wyatt, 2.

Grandparents are Steve Rubis, Worthington, Minn.; Jerry and Laura Raedeke, Nisswa, Minn.; and C.W. and Karen Beightel, Lawrence. Great-grandparents are Tony and Nell Tollefson, Lawrence; Les and Eleanor Mueller, Okoboji, Iowa; and Shirley Rubis, Lakefield, Minn.

Terry and Debra Snell, Eudora, announce the birth of their daughter, Summer Lee Snell, born Jan. 12, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She has a brother, Jonathon, 10.

Grandparents are Michael and RoseMary Lemmons, Eudora; Terry Snell, Topeka; and Debbi Snell, Bastrop, Texas. Great-grandparents are Francis and Bernice Born, Eudora; Irene Ledford, Gastonia, N.C.; and Charlene Snell, Oskaloosa.

Marguerite Schumm, Lawrence, made the dean’s list for the fall 2004 semester at Syracuse University by earning at least a 3.4 grade-point average. She is a freshman majoring in art photography.

The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers Assn. will have a student piano recital at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. Students who will be performing are: Gina Tong, Wagner Tong, Danni Wang, Ting Ting Shi, Caroline Dong, Lindsey Pratte, Siel Snowden, Angelica Wade, Cameron Pratte, B.J. Simpson, Rebekah Clause, Ashley Rasmussen, Samantha Schueler and Flora Jiang. They represent the studios of Carol Cook and Sue Kwak.

Sue Finley-Evans’ piano studio students will perform for the Women’s Federated Contest March 12 at the First Baptist Church and March 19 at West Side Presbyterian Church. Those who will be performing are Maria Harrison, Stefan Vernberg, Dravid Joseph, Alita Joseph, Kelly Gibson, Olivia Marshall, Kimberly Messenio, Jake Hash, Candice Meiners, Alexis Junge, Emily Foster, Jamie Messer and Brooke Bulleigh. Dravid Joseph won the most points at the recent Sigma Alpha Iota piano competition at Kansas University.
