Inez M. Johnson Norris, Lawrence

Mrs. Norris died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Lexington, Mo., the daughter of Andrew W. and Golda E. Wilburn Johnson. She had lived in Lawrence since 1945.

Mrs. Norris worked at Hallmark Cards in Lawrence and at the Kansas City Star. She was an administrative assistant at Kansas University and retired in 1982. She was baptized into the Community of Christ Church in 1929, and had served as Skylark leader, Zion’s League leader, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and a District and Congregational Women’s leader. She was also a Cub Scout and Brownie leader.

She married Gerald K. Norris on July 1, 1939, in Wichita. He died April 30, 2000.

A son, Andrew K. Norris, died Oct. 15, 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Gertrude “Trude” Einhellig, Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Roy Johnson, Meridian, Miss.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Outreach International, sent in care of the mortuary.
