Donald Dean Howard, Eudora

? Graveside services for Donald Dean Howard, 74, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Prairie Center Cemetery southeast of Eudora.

Mr. Howard died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at his home.

He was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Lawrence, the son of Fred Lewis and Mrytle Garratt Howard. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence in 1948. He moved from Lawrence to Eudora in 1958.

Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He was a lifelong farmer and worked as a foreman for Farmland Industries until he retired in 1989 after 35 years. He was a 4-H beef project leader and parent in Eudora.

He married June Marie Frost on Dec. 24, 1950, in Lawrence. She died Nov. 12, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Mark L., Hutchinson; three daughters, Jenice K. Howard, Tulsa, Okla., Denise G. Howard, Eudora, and Susan M. Hettenbach, Woodbine; a sister, Alice Eisele, Lawrence; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends both from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.

The family suggests memorials to Johnson Cancer Center and Kansas 4-H Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.
