Silver Stars snap skid

? Marie Ferdinand scored 18 points, and rookie Katie Feenstra added 14 points and 11 rebounds as the San Antonio Silver Stars ended a four-game losing streak with a 64-49 victory over the Charlotte Sting on Thursday.

In a matchup of the teams with the two worst records in the WNBA, the Silver Stars (3-10) won despite 21 turnovers. The Sting (1-9) shot 38 percent and committed 19 turnovers.

Allison Feaster scored 11 points, and Sheri Sam added 10 for the Sting, who have lost six straight.

The Sting cut a 12-point first-half deficit to 37-34 on Feaster’s three-pointer with 16:10 left. But San Antonio responded with a 9-0 run during the next four minutes.

Feenstra, who scored a career-high 16 points in San Antonio’s home victory over Charlotte on June 2, made 6 of 9 free throws and had six offensive rebounds.

The Sting committed eight turnovers in the first seven minutes as the Silver Stars built an 18-6 lead. San Antonio led 33-27 at halftime as both teams made 13 turnovers.
