Lawrence Police said Wednesday that in the past 24 hours they handled:

¢ 268 calls

¢ 24 reports

¢ two thefts

¢ five noninjury accidents

¢ one injury accident

¢ A 24-year-old Eudora woman told police two men assaulted her early Wednesday morning after she asked them to use their telephone. She said she was walking about 3 a.m. near the 2400 block of Alabama Street when she encountered the men, police said. They told her to come back to their nearby apartment and use the phone. Once inside the apartment, she said, the men began grabbing her.

A neighbor called police after hearing the woman screaming. Police arrested the men, both age 20, on suspicion of crimes including rape and kidnapping, but no charges had been filed as of Wednesday.
