Raiders win another, 8-4

? After winning the Lawrence Invitational last weekend, Lawrence’s Raiders rallied for four runs Tuesday night in the seventh inning to defeat Topeka 400, 8-4.

Matt Wingert pitched eight strong innings to pick up his second win against no losses. Both victories have come against Post 400, a team with a 12-4 record.

“Wingert was absolutely outstanding, phenomenal,” Raiders coach Kevin Tucker said. “He was ahead early, threw strikes.”

Wingert struck out five and walked three. Travis Blankenship pitched the ninth.

Tommy Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Brett Lisher socked two doubles in five at bats with two RBIs. Cory Cooper was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

“These guys battle every at bat,” Tucker said of his 13-2 team.
