Find some shade – hot and sunny today

The calendar might say it’s the last day of spring. But today’s forecast seems more like the middle of summer — sunny skies and hot temperatures.

“We have a high today of 90 degrees,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “You might want to grab the sunglasses.”

At 8 a.m., the temperature was 65, with east-northeast 6-mph winds and mostly sunny skies.

“There’s no clouds to talk about around Kansas this morning,” Schack said.

Schack said today’s temperature will climb above the average for this date of 86 degrees. The thermometer will reach 90 by late afternoon, she said. Overnight the temperature will fall to 65, she said.

“We’ll notice a few more clouds tomorrow,” she said.

On Tuesday, the first day of summer, the high will be 91, with southwest winds 5-10 mph and partly cloudy conditions..

“On Wednesday, it looks like our sticky conditions return,” Schack said.

Wednesday’s temperatures will start at 68 in the morning and climb to 93 by late Wednesday afternoon.

The highs will be in the low 90s through Friday, she said.
