Glass rolling in Vegas

? Three-time PBA Senior Player of the Year Bob Glass won all three of his matches Wednesday to stay in the winner’s bracket in the 2005 ABC Senior Masters at Suncoast Bowling Center.

Glass, of Lawrence, is in position to win his second Senior ABC Masters. He also won the event in 2001 and would become the third bowler to win the event twice.

Glass started the day with a narrow victory over Vaughn Doody, 739-723, in their three-game match. After defeating Gary Skidmore, 688-588, Glass had to squeeze out another victory.

He got off to a good start in his final match of the day, defeating Rohn Morton, 268-204, in the first game, but Morton came back with a 278-207 win to take a seven-pin lead into the final game. Glass, however, marked twice in the 10th for the 222-207 victory and claimed the match, 697-689.

“I had big leads twice and almost gave them up today. I’ve been luckier than I’ve been good,” said Glass, who owns nine PBA Senior Tour titles including one title season. “I’m not making good decisions. I’m hitting the pocket but not always striking. When I am striking, I’m striking a lot. But when I don’t, I don’t.”

Glass and seven other bowlers stayed undefeated through three matches, while eight other bowlers survived to today’s play through the loser’s bracket.

The only undefeated player to come out of the winner’s bracket will face the winner of the loser’s bracket at 6:30 p.m. CDT today to determine the winner of the $20,000 top prize and a berth in next season’s PBA Dexter Tournament of Champions.
