Raiders win, 8-7

? Lawrence’s Raiders nudged Manhattan, 8-7, on Tuesday night in American Legion baseball.

Brett Lisher went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Lorenzo Ricketts was 2-for-3 with a double, and Hogan Matson was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for the Raiders.

Jake Hoover was the winning pitcher in relief of Matt Wingert.

“We played well late. We found a way to win,” Raiders coach Kevin Tucker said. “Some guys had big at-bats. Hoover kept them off balance, and that was the difference.”

The Raiders (6-2) will play in the Lawrence Invitational starting Thursday at Free State High. They will face Shawnee Mission South at 3 p.m. and Lincoln, Neb., at 8 p.m.
