¢ Phenix U-14B Second: The Lawrence Phenix U-14B placed second in the Hidden Valley AFA Memorial Day Tournament and qualified for AFA Nationals in Lawrence in July. Team members are Theresa Harper, Mackenzie Salzman, Tracie Weege, Callie Craig, Jori Graf, Rose Griffin, Andrea Phillips, Catherine Smith, Natalie Reschke, Jourdan Sumonja, Kalli McClure and Kylie Waite. Coaches are Jay Rusk, Brad Graf and Trenda Reschke.

¢ Tanner Triple Gold: Brady Tanner of Lawrence won three gold medals in the Special Olympics in Wichita. Tanner won the bench press with a 300-pound lift, 435-pound dead lift and a 505-pound squat. He also won the combination at 1,240 pounds. Tanner, 25, competes in the 242-pound category.

¢ Baldwin Mat Medalists: Gabe Mason and Alan Callahan of Baldwin Wrestling Club won gold medals in both divisions of the Kansas Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling championships Saturday in Junction City. In Greco-Roman, Baldwin's Kevin Callahan earned a gold and Brandon Reed a silver. Also, Josh Hanson placed fourth in freestyle.

¢ Beisner Low: Kent Beisner carded an even-par 72 to capture Sunday's Jayhawk Golf Club weekly tournament at Alvamar. Van Reichert shot 76 and Bud Stagg 77. In net scoring, Bob Kocour and James Rudy each recorded 68 while Scot Tenpenny had a 69.

¢ Track Medalists: Lawrence's Alexa Harmon-Thomas won three gold medals and Bridgette Berry two in the Sonics Invitational track meet. In the U-9 competition, Harmon-Thomas won the long jump, high jump and 400. In the U-10 division, Berry won the long jump and high jump and placed second in the 100.

¢ Boeck K.C. Winner: Dee Boeck of Lawrence won the women's ages 55-59 division of Sunday's Hospital Hill Run half-marathon in Kansas City, Mo. Other Lawrence age-group placings were Andy Struble, second in men's 20-24, and Jennifer West, third in women's 25-29. Also, Jay Beckman was third in the 12K men's 44-49 competition, and Tonganoxie's Wally Brawner was second in the men's 65-69 half-marathon.

¢ KSA Tryouts: Kansas Soccer Academy, featuring Kansas University coach Mark Francis and Free State High coach Jason Pendleton, will conduct tryouts June 15-17. For information, go to www.kansassocceracademy.com.

¢ Breslauer Bronze: Fran Breslauer of Lawrence finished third in the women's ages 60-64 division of the New York Road Runner's Club Anniversary 4.7K Sunday in Central Park.

¢ Phenix U-18A Champs: Lawrence Phenix U-18A went 6-0 and won a regional softball tournament last weekend in Clay Center. Team members are Sarah Flaherty, Kristine Harrell, Carissa Art, Lauren Peel, Danielle Torres, Cincy Rupp, Kristal Holland, Amy Bullerman, Whitney Juneau, Samantha Hays, Alissa Hamilton and Brynn Hamilton. Coaches are John Hamilton and Tom Harrell.
