Thermometer to hit 90 today

Get ready for another hot, sticky one. “We are turning up the heat today,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

Schack said this morning’s mid and high clouds would become partly cloudy by this afternoon, and the temperature will rise a little higher than Monday’s 86 degrees.

At 8 a.m., the temperature was 76, with a 77 percent humidity level, partly cloudy skies and south to southeast 5-mph winds. The temperature is expected to be 85 at noon, she said.

“We’re topping out around 90,” Schack said. Winds will be from the south at 12 to 18 mph, she said. The average high temperature is 84 degrees for this date.

Tonight, the temperature will drop off to a low of 75 by early Wednesday morning, she said. Wednesday’s high will reach 91 degrees, with southerly winds 12 to 18 mph, she said.

“There’s a chance for storms late in the day on Wednesday,” she said. “Most of the storms are staying off to the north and northeast.”

The National Weather Service is calling for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Wednesday and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night.

Thursday’s morning low is expected to be 71, with the high rising to 86 on Thursday afternoon, under mostly cloudy skies.
