University Bridge Club announces the winners of its July 23 game. Hosts were Carl and Isabel Schaake, Willie Stoltenberg and Mary Jo Spotts.
Blue winners were: Dale Kring, first; Mary Jo Spotts, second; Tom Waller, third; Lois Liebert, fourth; and Harold Riehm, fifth.
Pink winners were Edna Galle, first; Donna Riehm, second; Carolyn Harden, third; Myrna Ikenberry, fourth; and Willie Stoltenberg, fifth.
¢ The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club’s July 20 game was directed by Virginia Seaver. Seven tables played a stratified game and a Mitchell movement. Chuck Hedges and Kent McCullough won first in A and B among the North-South pairs, followed by Betty Spalsbury and Margrete Hartman, who were first in C and second in A and B. Wanda Durbin and Julia Brooks were third in A. Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier were second in C.
Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro led the East-West pairs by winning first in A. Shirley Reese and Shirlie Vaughn were second in A and first in B, followed by Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Rozel, who were first in C, second in B and third in A.
¢ The Wednesday Evening Bridge Club’s July 20 game had eight and a half tables and played a stratified Mitchell movement directed by Don Brennaman. Bill Hamilton and Patt Radford led the North-South pairs by winning first in A and B. Chris Lane and Judy Bevan were second in A and B. Donna Johnson and Albert Ballard were third.
The East-West pairs were led by Ilse Steinhardt and Jo Andersen, who won first in A, B and C. Emily Foster and Chuck Hedges won second place in A, B and C, and Bob and Helen Huffman won third in all three strata.
The game was preceded by a potluck dinner. The Wednesday Evening Club plans to make this a monthly event.
¢ The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club’s July 22 game had 11 full tables playing a stratified Mitchell movement. The game was directed by Don Brennaman. The results were not reported.
¢ The Sunday Afternoon Bridge Club was directed by Eldon Herd. Five tables played a stratified Howell movement. Patt Radford and Gary Joyce placed first in A, followed by Carol Ball and Mary Joyce, who won first in B and C and second in A. Third place in A and second in B were captured by Dorothy Netson and Ruth Amsbaugh, Topeka. Bob Anderson and Betty Spalsbury were second in C.
¢ The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at 12 and a half tables directed by Virginia Seaver.
North-South pairs were led by Klee Zaricky and Virginia Seaver, who were first in A. Chris Lane and Shirley Reese were first in B and second in A, followed by Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough, who took third in A. Alice Leitch and Frances Vogel were first in C.
The East-West pairs were led by Terry Tolar and Lynn Hui, who won first in A and B. Lois Jones and Dorothy Netson were second in A, and Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro were third. Ann Thompson and Grant Sutton won second in B and first in C, while Bobby Patton and Addie Nyquist won second in C and third in B.
