Cold front to bring scattered showers, thunderstorms

After several days of 100-degree weather, Lawrence is getting a reprieve from the heat.

“We’ll have some rain and relief as that cold front finally arrives this morning,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

Schack said scattered showers and thunderstorms were pushing in from the west of Lawrence. The National Weather Service says there’s an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today and a 40 percent chance tonight.

Temperatures will continue to fall today as the cold front arrives, dropping to 72 by 5 p.m. , Schack said. The temperature will continue to fall overnight, reaching a low of 57 by early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday’s high will be 82 under clearing skies, with northerly winds, 8 to 15 mph. Wednesday night will be clear, with the low dropping to 57 by early Thursday morning.
