Lone Star 4-H Club met July 11 at Royal Crest Lanes for the annual Club Fest and Mini Fair. The meeting was called to order by Callie Fishburn, vice president, who also led the flag salute. Members answered roll call by stating their shoe sizes. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mackenzie Flory, junior secretary.
Mary Berg gave the community leaders’ report. She said volunteers were needed for the Douglas County Free Fair. She also reminded members of the following deadlines: state fair entries, 11 a.m., Aug. 7; CWF and ambassador applications, Sept. 19; KAA’s pin applications and Key Award applications, Oct. 1.
¢ Kansas 4-H is having its first Campference, a camp and conference for 11- to 13-year-olds. The camp will be Sept. 20-Oct. 2 at Rock Springs 4-H Center near Junction City. The camp will include activities such as horseback riding, archery and leadership development.
