Soybean futures increased Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade, while grain futures finished lower.

Wheat for September delivery fell 5 1/4 cents to $3.33 1/4 a bushel; September corn fell 7 cents to $2.41 1/2 a bushel; September oats fell 1 1/4 cent to $1.74 1/2 a bushel; August soybeans rose 2 cents to $6.84 1/2 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures advanced on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

August live cattle rose .15 cent to 79.42 cents a pound; August feeder cattle rose .10 cent to $1.0755 a pound; August lean hogs rose .43 cent to 67.97 cents a pound; August pork bellies rose 1.27 cent to 69.37 cents a pound.

Not enough slaughter steers and heifers on hand to establish a trend, however the undertone was lower. Slaughter cows sold mostly 1.00-3.00 lower and slaughter bulls traded mostly steady.

Slaughter Heifers: Pkg Select and Choice 2-3 1302 lbs 74.00.

Slaughter Cows: Breaking 70-80 percent lean 53.25-55.00, high dressing 56.50-57.25, low dressing 50.00-53.00. Boning 80-85 percent lean 53.00-57.00, high dressing 58.00-60.75, low dressing 51.00-53.00. Lean 85-90 percent lean 48.00-52.00, high dressing 52.00-54.00, low dressing 39.00-48.00.

Slaughter Bulls: Yield Grade 1-2 few 1690-2135 lbs 63.25-70.00, low dressing 60.00-63.25.
