Pittsburg ? Lawrence’s Raiders are headed to the state American Legion baseball tournament.

The Raiders clipped Pittsburg, 18-8, in the zone tournament finals Monday.

Jake Hoover went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and was the winning pitcher. Brian Heere went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, Hogan Matson was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Tyler Knight was 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs.

“I was happy the way we played,” Raiders coach Kevin Tucker said. “Pittsburg and Lawrence were in the finals of the state tournament last year. They are one of the best teams in the state.

“Offensively, we’ve scored a lot of runs. We kicked the ball early. We scored some runs and came out on top.”

The Raiders (31-6) went 3-0 at the zone tourney.
