Area fishing report

CLINTON (Updated 7-13) – Water 82 degrees and 2.34 feet above normal pool. Crappie poor. Fishing sporadic. A few being caught off brush at 12-15 feet and some being taken at 12-20 feet off channel using minnows and jigs. Channel catfish good using liver, shad and shrimp. White bass fair throwing crankbaits or jigs into surfacing schools fish chasing shad. Calm days early morning and late evening are best times. Notes: A 10-inch minimum length limit and 20 daily creel limit on crappie, and an 18-inch minimum length limit on wiper went into effect Jan. 1.

PERRY (updated 7-7) – Water 81 degrees and 2.42 feet above normal pool. Channel catfish fair to good. Fish eating shad. Feeders are in and working from 7-8 a.m., noon and 7-8 p.m. Hog trough is smoking. Sauger fair to good on rocky points on west side toward the dam on crankbaits, twisters. White bass fair on rocky points, twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. White crappie fair on tube jigs or minnows at 12-15 feet. Note: Shad are about a half-inch long and will be growing fast. State Park boat ramps now usable.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 7-13) – Channel catfish fair using nightcrawlers, poultry liver or stinkbait. Bluegill fair on nightcrawler pieces below bobber.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 7-13) – Bluegill good using worms under bobber around weedbeds and feeders. Channel catfish fair using nightcrawlers, shad, large minnows and stinkbait. Largemouth bass fair. Anglers report fishing slow with crankbaits, but better with plastic worms and jigs. Crappie poor. Fishing spotty. Walleye fair drifting jig and nightcrawler over structure. Note: Aeration system up and running again. Feeders are operational.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 7-13) – Largemouth bass fair using spinnerbaits, crankbaits and plastic jigs and worms. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber. Channel catfish fair using nightcrawlers, liver, stinkbait or minnows.
